Annyeonghaseyo!
I’m Brad Plombon! I’m a Korean adoptee who grew up in Minnesota, and in 2023, I took my first trip to Seoul—honestly, not knowing what to expect. But from the moment I landed, I was hooked. The people, the culture, the food… everything just felt right.
What I didn’t see coming, though, was the overwhelming sense of connection I felt—like I had found a missing piece of myself. It was a feeling of belonging I didn’t even know I was searching for.
Since that first trip, I’ve been back twice, making amazing friends and slowly piecing together more of my identity. But I knew if I really wanted to connect with my roots, just visiting wasn’t enough—I needed to learn the language. So, I took the leap: I’m spending the next three months in Korea, studying Korean at Sogang University.
This blog is my way of sharing the journey—the struggles, the small wins, and everything in between—as I dive into the language and embrace my heritage. Whether you’re on a similar path or just curious about life in Korea, I’d love to have you along for the ride!
